What the price covers
- Getting to you. No separate trip or "service call" charge on top.
- The work itself, plus the parts it names: pins and new keys for a rekey, a fresh standard lockset when we swap one.
- A test of each lock and key before David E. leaves.
- A written, itemized invoice under the business name, sent by text or email.
- Two new keys with every rekeyed cylinder and every new lock. Spares run $5 apiece, made from the van before he leaves. Condo owners usually add a third for the management office or the cleaning service.
- A 6-month workmanship warranty. Should anything we fitted or repaired misbehave during the first half-year, David E. returns and sets it right for free. A new lock keeps its maker's warranty on top of ours.
What can raise the total
- Salt damage. Cylinders near A1A can seize, and a frozen lock takes longer to open or service (why it happens).
- Older hardware. The median Pompano Beach home was built in 1974 (City-Data), and decades of swapped and painted-over locks don't always take modern parts.
- Impact doors. Their multipoint hardware has to stay the model named in the door's approval — see impact-door locks.
- Car keys: the year, make and key type decide it.
- Several locks at once bring the cost per lock down. What doesn't change it: the hour, the weekday, or which floor of the tower you live on.
Example: a seasonal-home close-up
An owner heading north for the summer wants new keys for the front deadbolt, the knob below it, the garage entry and the back patio door before tenants move in.
- First lock, trip included: $95
- Three more locks at $47 each
- Comes to $236 — the whole-house figure for four locks. (Example only, not a real job.)
What we won't do
- Advertise a $19 or $29 "service call" and reveal the real price at your door. Ads like that chase Pompano Beach searches; the honest total is the range above.
- Add a night, weekend or holiday surcharge.
- Start any work before you've agreed to the price.
Three promises before we start
- Decline the on-site figure and the visit is free. If the lock turns out different from the call and the revised number doesn't suit you, he packs up with no trip fee.
- No drilling unless you agree — and no charge for the attempt if you don't. When a cylinder won't give way cleanly and you say no to the drill, the opening is on us.
- Change of plans? Cancelling costs nothing until he has pulled up.
Paying
When David E. has finished and each key has worked in your own hand — nothing up front, and nobody walks you to a cash machine. Zelle, Apple Pay or Google Pay, any major credit or debit card, or cash; the itemized invoice lands by text or email.
Locked out? Call — the price comes first.
