Pompano's warehouse district

The city describes itself as Broward County's largest industrial, warehouse and distribution submarket, with more than 28 million square feet, two Amazon distribution centers and direct access to I-95 and Florida's Turnpike (City of Pompano Beach). Much of it lines Copans Road, Sample Road and Powerline Road, and the city counts an "Andrews Industrial District" among its officially recognized neighborhoods (Wikipedia). Buildings change hands here too: Pompano Business Center II at 3001 W Copans Rd sold in July 2025 (The Real Deal). And the former Festival Flea Market site on Sample Road, closed since June 1, 2025, is being turned into a logistics park (Wikipedia).

New owners and new tenants mean keys from the last occupant are still out there.

Master keys when a tenant moves out

When a bay or suite turns over, the cleanest fix is to rekey it into your master system:

  1. Walk every door — office, bay, roll-up, restroom, storage — and note each cylinder.
  2. Write the key plan: a master for the owner or property manager, a key per unit, and who holds what.
  3. Rekey or swap cylinders on site. Doors stay hung; nothing is cut out.
  4. Stamp and log every key, and hand you a sign-out list.
  5. Check every exit still opens from inside with no key.

Property managers of licensed apartment buildings have a related duty: Florida's Miya's Law requires a log of every key issued and returned (Spencer Fane). A master system with stamped keys makes that log easy to keep.

What we work on

Card readers and electric strikes are a different matter: anything wired into the building's low-voltage system goes to a licensed low-voltage contractor, and we'll point you there rather than guess.

The city asks for a Zoning Use Certificate before it issues a Business Tax Receipt (City of Pompano Beach). Add "rekey the locks" to that same checklist, and read your lease for who owns the locks.

Who can approve the work

Whoever runs the business: the owner, a manager carrying company ID, or a written OK from property management.
